The 232nd Express Entry draw is the seventh since all-program draws resumed on July 6th. It has followed previous trends of decreasing CRS scores and increasing ITA issuance. As the number of backlogged applications is processed, the CRS score has gradually decreased with each draw. Since the resume of all programme draws, the CRS score has dropped by 53 points overall, and 17,250 applicants have received an ITA.
The Express Entry draw 232 followed the same patterns as previous draws. Since July 6th, each Express Entry draw has seen a gradual decrease in CRS scores and an increase in the number of ITAs issued. The draw on Wednesday was 6 points lower than the previous draw on September 14th. In addition, 500 additional ITAs were distributed in the most recent draw.
Keep Track of Immigration Numbers
Express Entry is one of the most popular immigration routes to Canada. Using the Express Entry System, Canada welcomes over 100,000 skilled workers each year. Canadian Immigration Minister Sean Fraser announced that the country is on track to exceed its 430,000 immigration goal for 2022, a record for the country.
This year, Canada has received a record number of immigrants via Express Entry. If current rates of immigration continue, Canada may exceed its immigration targets for 2022.
Canada has a historically low unemployment rate and more than one million job openings. Due to labour shortages, it has become increasingly difficult to fill critical jobs across the country. Due to staff shortages, some essential services have had to reduce their hours or close entirely. Immigration is one solution to this problem, with many calling for increased quotas to meet demand.
In 2023, there will be changes
Last week, Sean Fraser unveiled his new plan to assist temporary residents in becoming permanent residents. Among other initiatives, an update to the Express Entry system is planned for early 2023. These modifications will assist IRCC in issuing ITAs to individuals with specific work experience, education, or language ability in order to support Canada’s economy and labour force.
It was also announced that the CRS would be reviewed to determine the number of points awarded for factors such as Canadian work experience, Canadian education, language proficiency, and having a job offer in Canada. Depending on the specific changes made, CRS scores may become less important in future draws.
When Will the Next Express Entry Drawing Take Place?
According to IRCC, all-program Express Entry draws will continue to be held on a bi-weekly basis. Following this schedule, the next anticipated all-program Express Entry draw will be October 12th, 2022.
The CRS cut-off will likely continue to slowly decline as the IRCC continues to work to address backlog issues.
